Britain Tabs Northrop Grumman Over Boeing For $1.19 Billion AWACS Contract.

Northrop Grumman [NOC] recently was selected by Britain over Boeing [BA] as the preferred bidder to provide aircraft maintenance and engineering support services for the Royal Air Force's (RAF) fleet of Boeing E-3D Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft.

"We will bring Northrop Grumman's full range of life-cycle solutions to the RAF's AWACS modernization program," James O'Neill, president of Northrop Grumman's Information Technology (IT) sector, said in a statement.

Northrop Grumman IT will support the maintenance schedule for the RAF AWACS fleet, ensuring that only one of the seven aircraft is scheduled for maintenance at any given time. The …
