VIC: Architects warn of fire risk houses in the bush

MELBOURNE, Feb 4 AAP - Many houses being built in Australia's bushfire areas were death
traps because they were not designed to withstand fire, a national body of architects warned
today.

Archicentre, the Royal Australian Institute of Architects home buyer inspection service,
called for stricter controls over the building of homes in bushfire areas.

Controls should include restriction on the use of materials and planning, Archicentre
